PRiSAFE Suite of Products

Pontis PRiSAFE is the suite of flexible and manageable biometric products that form the backbone of the MESA Architecture. The Bio ID GINA and Bio Verify GINA are part of this family of products.

Products and mechanisms used are abstracted from the underlying platforms and applications by libraries that offer a standardized interface.

Built around a core Pontis abstraction library (GINA DLL), the solution takes into account the practical problems of enrolling and then efficiently managing the credentials of thousands of enterprise-wide users.

Concepts

Authentication.is the process of verifying the identity of a person. Authentication can be considered the first and most important step in resource access control. Once access is granted the person (now considered a legitimate user) goes through the authorization process and based on identity is assigned a  predetermined set of privileges.

The Pontis Approach

At the heart of the Pontis authentication approach is a robust, flexible architectural framework known as MESA (Managed Enterprise with Strong Authentication).

The basic features of MESA are:

  The ability to phase in and support different kinds of authentication mechanisms.

  The ability to assign different confidence metrics depending on the communication channels.  For example, a user within an organizational Intranet using a smart card may be assigned a higher confidence metric than one dialing in from a home computer using a user ID, password combination.
